Bamberg's Cathedral, Saint Michaelsberg and the Altes Rathaus

Pictures of Bamberg's Cathedral, Saint Michaelsberg and the Altes Rathaus. These were taken in early April, 2006. Bamberg is a city situated on a series of hills, Saint Michaelsberg sits on top of the highest point. The Bamberger Dom is located on the top of a hill above the Altes Rathaus and the Regnitz.



Der Bamberger Dom - The Cathedral of Bamberg. Building on the Cathedral began in 1004. A fire destroyed the original structure and the Cathedral, as it appears now, was finished in 1237.

In the middle of the outside wall of the Altes Rathaus there is a cherub's leg and a scroll sticking out over the river.

Klein Venedig - Little Venice, along the north eastern side of the Regnitz River in the Altstadt. A row of riverside fisherman's houses, just upstream from the Altes Rathaus.

Kaiserin Kunigunde - The statue of Empress Kunigunde who ruled in Bamberg in the 15th century. Her sarcophagus is in the Cathedral of Bamberg.

Saint Michaelsberg - A large complex above Altstadt Bamberg.
