Freudenberg, Germany

Freudenberg City Limits

Freudenberg lies on the Main River just southwest of Dorfprozelten. There is one bridge leading into the town over the river which meets up with the Nibelungstrasse, the main road through the town. In the center of the picture is the Altstadt, the old center of town and the right-hand edge of the picture is the end of town.

The Rathaus and the Freudenberg parish church

The Stadtwappen Freudenberg, the city coat of arms, on the side of the Rathaus. The plaque below commemorates the 700th aniversary of the city 1287-1987. The Rathaus itself is dated 1605

The front of the Rathaus

The alley across the street from the Rathaus

The corner of the old city wall along the river, now the outer wall of a private residence. This still marks the western end of the town

All of the houses along the river have incorporated the city wall into them

Freudenberg on the southside of the river Main and therefore in the state of Baden-Württemberg, the houses in background are in Bavaria

Burgübergabe, above Freudenberg

The old courtyard of Burgübergabe is filled with grandstands and a stage for open air performances

Another part of the old city wall stretches from the ruins on the top of the hill down to the town

The eastern end of Freudenberg, almost entirely private houses and a few supermarkets/gas stations. The large white and grey complex in the middle along the river is a factory of some sort

The castle at Wertheim, the city nearest Freudenberg

I saw this on the way through Wertheim on the bus, and ran back to take a picture before catching the next bus. This was a Ford dealership/repair station with the name Väth, when you type the name out on a typewriter or keyboard or translate for a language that doesn't have umlauts, the ä becomes ae - Vaeth
