After spending a day in Saint Louis we decided to get out of town and visit a winery in nearby Augusta, Missouri. Here are a few pictures from our stop at the Mount Pleasant Winery in Augusta.

Augusta, Missouri is a tiny town, probably smaller than Weston, about 30 minutes southwest of Saint Louis. Mount Pleasant is probably best known for their Norton wine, a full bodied and very rich red wine that is similar to Merlot. The Mount Pleasant Winery overlooks farms and fields that line the Missouri River.

The winery is on the edge of town on a hill. The complex is spread out, there is a building with the tasting room, one with a general store, a restaurant and a few other buildings. This gazebo was on the edge of the hill and was set up for a wedding ceremony.

Our wine tasting yielded a set of souvenir wine glasses.
